Chrisy Love, Teacher Southery Primary School

Dave Clarke has been invaluable to us at Middleton. When I started at school in September 2016 he was working as an afterschool club organiser. His clubs were full to capacity and he managed the behaviour in an incredibly effective manner. I then asked him what else he could provide.

He now runs daily afterschool clubs catering for year R to 6. He is ably assisted in this by two very effective and responsible sports coaches, Becky and Stewart. Together they offer netball, cricket, football, spy training, rocket club, archery, street dance and more.

They are branded East Anglia Sports Academy and run several other activities – see website… www.eastangliasportsacademy.com

Every lunch time, Dave and Stewart are in school, setting up tables, supervising lunch, running activities outside or inside for wet play and helping to tidy away at the end of lunch. They do this cheerfully, with an attitude that nothing is too much trouble and arrive early every day. They have transformed the lunchtime experience for the children and set up big and small games for the children and activities the children can run themselves. This situation has evolved over time, as Dave responds to what the school and the children require.

Dave’s young coaches are being developed by Dave’s tutelage and he has facilitated their delivery of PSHE with year 2/3 for a term, covering healthy eating and first aid for children. They also help deliver PE sessions and on occasion improve the teacher’s practise with their high standards.

Together East Anglia Sports Academy have arranged and supervised sports fixtures with other schools, negotiating supportive conditions for both teams so that a good balance of ability is on show. Currently, Dave is helping to support the KLA and KES cluster sports activities where small teams are expected to attend. We could not do this with current staff as two members of staff with for example 4 children is unfeasible.

Dave, Stewart and Becky are problem solvers. They are helpful and cheerful. Their behaviour management is excellent under Dave’s guidance. They are humble and willing to learn. They are good listeners and great ambassadors for our school. I’m sure they will be greatly valued at your school as well.

"Great coach, good at training young and old alike"

Sue Robinson, Archer, The Barns Archery Club

"The kids had a fantastic time playing football and then the Nerf Gun Wars. Looking forward to many more sessions with you. The children loved it! Thank you"

Southery Youth Club

East Anglia Sports Academy have been extremely valuable in helping us deliver parts of our PE curriculum this year. They have assisted us by bringing in extra members of staff to deliver activities that would have been difficult to deliver successfully without their support.

Dave has bought his knowledge of rugby to Kings Lynn Academy and has provided expert assistance in PE lessons, after school clubs and at rugby tournaments. His experience and knowledge has helped the pupils make the most out of these experiences and they have all developed as players with some going on to play at local clubs.

"Mr May Kings Lynn Academy P.E. Department"

this climbing wall is brilliant. Thank you Dave for bringing this and the archery to our event. Really appreciated!"

Jo Watson, Event Organiser

I never used to play sports until Dave and Stu arrived at the school and since then I LOVE IT

I enjoyed Dave and Stu time today because everyone took part, everyone enjoyed it and even though my tean didn't win i was very proud

“ My son was never able to stay enough time in a sport club due to his difficulty in concentrating and the coaches did not really interact with him. But, with Dave, my son has been enjoying archery for 18 months and this is because Dave is ever so patient and has been able to interact with him effectively”

Anabela Goncalves, Mum to Danny age 7 Archer

My son really enjoys the Swanton Morley Multisports group and looks forward to going every week. There’s a fantastic variety of sport activities lead by a great coach who makes sure every kid is involved, having fun and learning new skills.
